After trying the Eye-Pal, I cannot tell you how much it has made my job more efficient.  No longer do I have to wait 20 to 30 seconds before my computer begins to read.  The Eye-Pal reads the text in less than two or three seconds.  In addition, the accuracy of the optical character recognition is excellent!

About Us:
Assimilating solutions for the visually challenged.

ABiSee, founded in the basement of my Sudbury, MA home in in 2005, has grown healthily in the past 4 years. Today, ABiSee is a multi-million dollar company selling its technologically advanced, yet easy-to-use devices worldwide.

The entire ABiSee team is comprised of passionate, dedicated and innovative individuals united by their steadfast commitment to develop improved tools to enrich the lives and assure the independence of people who are visually impaired.

In 2006, we introduced its first auto-reader – Zoom-Ex. Zoom-Ex performance broke time barriers in OCR with its ability to scan and read a page of text within 20-60 seconds. Zoom-Ex’s text wrapping feature put magnified text within the dimensions of screen and freed users from the reliance on a X-Y table for the first time in history.

In 2007, inspired by the need of visually impaired students and working professionals for a tool that would aid their productivity, we added a second flexible CCTV camera to the Zoom-Ex configuration and Zoom-Twix was born. Zoom-Twix enabled students to not only read textbooks but also to save the text. Students could open the saved book and go to any page they desired with a single click. ABiSee developed the second camera as a  flexible CCTV camera to view the blackboard, capture the information on it and empower students to take written tests under desired magnifications.

ABiSee solutions include
productivity tools for the workplace
and classroom as well as life
enrichment tools for the home.

Zoom-Twix’s performance, 20-60 seconds to scan and read a page of text, made it the fastest auto-reader available. However, visually impaired people told us they wanted more—they wanted a real-time reader. We listened and responded by going back to the drawing board, united in our dedication to break the performance barriers requested by our low vision users.

In 2008, we introduced Eye-Pal—a device initially designed for blind users. Eye-Pal’s speed was blistering fast—it took Eye-Pal just a few seconds to start reading. We introduced Eye-Pal at the 2008 ATIA to the accolades of attendees. Those who saw our demonstration could not believe that it was possible for any device to scan and start reading within a few seconds. Eye-Pal’s versatility as a reader –it  could read books and newspapers, junk mail and even text on a bottle of shampoo—was also lauded by those present. We even integrated the Eye-Pal with Braille displays and full voice support.

In 2009, not content to leave well enough alone, we engineered significant improvements in  the quality of Zoom-Ex and Zoom-Twix. Today, both devices are as fast and accurate as Eye-Pal.

In addition, we developed two additional improvements to display magnified text on screen:

  1. Text may be shown as true font – this means that the quality of the highly magnified text is better than with any CCTV.
  2. Depending on a user’s visual impairment and preferences, the person may select how the text will display on the screen – as multiple lines or as a single line, as an auto- scrolling line or as one word at a time, accompanied by speech if so desired.
When our users tell us what enhancements  they’d like to see in our tools, we listen. And whenever possible, we engineer those features  into the next version.

The entire ABiSee team is comprised of passionate, dedicated and innovative individuals united by their steadfast commitment to develop improved tools to enrich the lives and assure the independence of people who are visually impaired.

Keep a look out for our new product developments. We think you’ll like what you see and see what you’re missing.

Sincerely,
